Garsjøen Farm Descendant and Resident, Martin Garsjø's Tombstone at Hurdal Church
Provided compliments of Atle Rønning, in this Hurdal Church cemetery is buried Martin Garsjøen (Martin Garsjø) who I visited in 1968 at his home. Click here for a view of his tombstone.

About five years prior to this picture taken in 2006 a big thunderstorm broke down all of the big and beautiful trees outside the church. This happened some time after 2001. Atle relates that not much else has changed since 1976. Nothing other than some adaptations for handicapped and people with disabilities.

This is a church of hundreds of ancestors of Strum, Wisconsin area residents, both present and former. Greg Gullicksrud, who grew up in Strum and is now a Lutheran minister in Wisconsin, has visited this church more than once. At another location on this WEB site he provides a view of the inside at a different time.

A very interesting story, in my view, stems from this church from Atle Rønning ultimately contacting me via Email in September 2006. My father, Roy H. Matson, now deceased since 1979, but of Strum, Wisconsin, visited this church in 1976 and maybe also in 1974. Click
here to see a curious bit of camera work to prove that he did, in fact, visit Hurdal Church and the man who was the Rector there in 1976.
