| Strum has, of course, had many barbers over the years. This is Snips barber shop today. My best recollection is of Marshall's and John's barber shops and then later, Connie Johnstad's. Those were the names, the barber shops took the first name of the barber, Marshall and John. I think this was one of the barber shop buildings, the design is correct. This would have been the location of Marshall's barber shop.. If you wanted a high, bowl type cut, which no high school kid of the day wanted, you went to Marshall. He would have made millions of dollars without even trying today with bowl haircuts in vogue. If you wanted an even cut but with little hair left, depending upon how much the barber had to carry on a conversation with you or those waiting, you went to John the Barber. Kids and adults patronized both shops. I would say from the looks of this shop today and its name, that a nice easy trim is available today. I don't know if Connie Johnstad is still cutting hair. But, I do know that he still is into music, and has his band still playing under the "Connie Johns" (I believe) name. My grand cousin, Ellen Marie (Strand) Heck's husband, Lyle, plays with Connie now and then in Eau Claire. They are good! I heard them at an Eau Claire park only a couple years ago.
