Roy served in the Navy in World War II, near end, stateside. Roy's wife, Blanche, his mother, Mary Garson, and his father Helfred Matson, all died within three years and his wife in July and mother in August of the same year, 1951, his mother of recurrent strokes, and his wife of a malignant inoperable brain tumor. Blanche died in Rochester, returning home only for burial. 1st Marriage: Blanche was married first to Laverne Rockwell in 1931. Jimmie and Richard are children of this marriage. When Blanche Kuhl Rockwell married Roy H. Matson in 1938, Roy adopted the boys. Burial: 21 Jul 1951, Strum, Wisconsin, St. Paul's Cemetery.
