She married HELFRED SYVER MATSON 30 May 1908 in Strum, Wisconsin, son of SYVER MADSEN and HELENA OLSDATTER. He was born 31 Jul 1879 in Østre Toten, Oppland, Norway, and died 18 May 1954 in Rural Eleva, Wisconsin, at the home of Mariann & Stanley Berg. Mary and Helfred are buried in St. Paul’s Lutheran Church cemetery at the Roy H. Matson plat.
Helfred purchased on August 1, 1910, in Pierre, South Dakota area, the southeast quarter of section thirty one in Township seven north of Range 25 east of the Black Hills Meridian, S.D., containing 160 acres. Per daughter, Mariann, family moved off the Berg farm and into Eleva around 1943 and Mariann's mom had her first stroke in same year. They moved back to the farm to be cared for about 1947.
