| Mable Nelson Thompson's Return Visit to Norseville School 86 Years Later in May 2010 Back to More Pictures of Mable Nelson Thompson's Return Visit to Norseville School |
| This picture is of the Hagestad Farm (foreground). Norseville School is the white building middle back. The next building coming forward oin our right, the middle white building, is the farm home of Arthur Olson. The large barn on the left is also Arthur Olson's. The far right white building next to Arthur Olson's home is the Hagestad home. The Hagestad home also served as the Norseville Post Office. This Hagestad farm later became Olson and is now, Rindal. All of these buildings, except for the house on the right, are gone. The large barn on the left was burned down a few years ago and that area is now grass. The Art Olson home caught on fire about ten years ago, after being nicely remodeled, and was then unrepairable and eventuallly it was burned down. Rob Rindal family lives on this property today in a mobile home. Luther Rindal family lives in the remodeled former Hagestad home, today. MOUSE OVER and OFF of this picture for a picture of likely the same farmer, probably Hagestad, in a closeup that may have been taken the same day or about the same time. In this picture, we are looking southwest toward Eleva, along Big Creek (the creek is behind the white buildings, below the hills). Eleva is about 5 miles away. The Village of Strum is about 4 miles due south of this picture. Immediately adjacent to this field, on the north (below this picture, in front of us), is the Hanson farm, still, today, owned by a Hanson, Gary & Corrine Hanson. Old County Road D ran north-south between the large red barn and the smaller red granery right of the barn. Williams Road, coming from U. S. Highway 10 to the southeast, ran past this side of the large barn to join old County D. Present County Road D has moved east (left). For the area we look at around these buildngs, County D now runs north-south on the left side of where the barn stood. Until some years ago, this end of Williams Road was called Romundstad Valley Road and the part of the road nearer to U. S. Highway 10 and the then Williams property was called Williams Road. Today, the whole stretch is Williams Road. Choose a link and return from that picture: Where was Norseville, Wisconsin?
