Mable Nelson Thompson's
Return Visit to Norseville School

This picture taken by Susan Thompson Stump is of Immanuel Lutheran Church of Strum. This is how Mable Nelson Thompson and her daughters saw it in May 2010.

Immanuel Lutheran is the result of a 1950s merger between the two Lutheran churches of Strum, St. Paul's and West Beef River. St. Paul's, known as the "White Church" because of its wood structure and white paint, was in worse condition and did not survive the merger. The best of each church became part of the new church. The far superior pipe organ of St. Paul's became the main instrument for musical worship. Each church had separate cemeteries before the merger and each cemetery is in use yet today. Fred Matson.
