| Johnson Valley, named after Esten Johnson Dahl, an early settler, and the Johnson Valley District #4 School, are located south and a bit east of Strum in and around section 29. School had been in session for nearly 45 years at the time of this picture. The first books were purchased in 1876. This is probably the building that was built in 1890. We have 100% attendance for this picture: 33 Students and 1 Teacher. Julia Nelson is the teacher of record at the start of the year, but the teacher in this picture is Ida Hopland. Olga Berg taught the prior year.
