| Mary's Father's Side: Even Olsen Bakke (B: 1738, D: 1809) and Kari Nilsdatter Alm (B: 1745, D: 1800) were married in 1784 in Norway and had ten (10) children, one of them, Even Evenson, was born in 1788. Even Everson (or Evenson) married Anne Svendsdor in 1812 in Norway and gave birth to Christian Evenson Nordbraaten in 1815. Christian was a Garsjoen and worked for that farm (gaard) until he married Maria Nordbraaten in 1844 in Norway. Then he changed his name to Nordbraaten and went to work at the farm of his wife's surname. Christian and Maria gave birth to Nels (or Nils in Norway), on November 13, 1855, one of six (6) children. Nels carried the Nordbraaten surame in Norway. He changed his name to Nels Garson (carrying a version of the Garsjoen name) on coming to America. Nel's siblings were: Olaus Christianson, Fredrika, Edvard Norby, Even Osheim, and Antonetta. Nels, married Clara Julianne Hansdatter Frodalen on May 30, 1883 and gave birth to Mary Garson on May 2, 1884 and seven other children. Nels died on May 16, 1926, Clara died on January 12, 1941. ***** Mary's Mother's Side: Peder Hansen (B:1793 or 1794, D: February 4, 1867) and Siri Jensdatter (B: October 14, 1789, D: November 7, 1864), were married on April 24, 1817, and gave birth to Hans Frodahl, one of seven (7) children. Both Peder and Sir worked on the Dyrin farm until about 1819 when they moved to the Rognetadstuen farm. They bought Frodalen (farm?) in 1837, sold it in 1841, but continued to live there. Hans PedersenFrodahl (B.9 Aug 1828, D: 24 Jun 1900) married Maria Ivershus (Iversdtr) (B:Oct 11, 1829, D:20 April 1910) on April 28, 1852 and they gave birth to Clara Julianne Hansdatter Frodalen (B:June 26, 1858, D:Jan 12, 1941), one of tweleve (12) children: Clara married Nels Garson on May 30, 1883. Nels and Clara were the parents of Mary Garson (B:May 2, 1884, D:Aug 19, 1951) and seven other siblings: Arrup Garson, Nettie Bretson, Ruth Strand, Hans Garson, Fritz Garson, Thora Anderson, and Ellen Anderson. Mary Garson married Helfred Sever Matson in 1908 at Strum, Wisconsin, USA. They gave birth to four (4) children. |
