| League All Stars vs. Osseo City Baseball Team At Stoddard Park, Osseo, Wisconsin Sunday, July 1, 1945 |
| This poster was provided by Paula Rogers Huff (daughter of Percy Rogers of the Osseo baseball team). More recently (December 2003) Jerry Berg and Rusty Sayles provided more detail on player names and the event. This poster may take a while to load depending upon your computer's speed. First Names and other for the League All Stars (9 players): Bud Drehmel, Ludington; Robert Hardin, Augusta; Leonard Rathjen, Foster; Norval Matson, Strum; Werner Rice, Strum (but this is not consistent with the first initial P or F in the poster unless Werner had such a nick name.); Walter (Wally) Lee, York; "Unknown" Welke, Foster; Armin Fischer, North Branch; and probably Bob Young, Augusta. First Names and other for Osseo (13 players): Leonard (Art) Kattestad; Russell "Rusty" Sayles; Ernest "Ernie" Myhers; Danny Stewart; Owen Lemke; Arnold Mickelson; Ernest "Mike" Mickelson; Percy Rogers; James "Jimmy" Dodmead; Oris "Lead" Klundby; Otis Stewart; L Stair (first name unknown); and Kenneth "Bud" Crump. Danny Stewart is a son of Otis Stewart; the Mickelson boys are brothers. Rusty says that Osseo won the game but he does not recall the score. The game was played where the swimming pool and softball field are now located (December 2003). Home plate was very near the middle of the swimming pool. The date and year of this game are verified. Thank you Rusty Sayles and Jerry Berg for this additional information. Email me, Fred Matson, with your ideas/information about this picture/poster. What was the score? What do you know about those names that are in doubt? |
