The Story Of
Helfred Matson
& Mary Garson
Mads married Oline Christoffersdatter on 26 October 1826 at Kobu Parish, Vestre
Toten, Norway. We know little more about Oline except that her father?s name must have
been Christoffer something consistent with norwegian patronymic naming patterns.

Mads Larsen & Oline Christoffersdatter are Helfred Matson?s grandparents on his
father?s side.

Syver Madsen, Helfred?s father, was born on 19 January 1845 on the STABO farm in
Vestre Toten, hence the name Syver Johannes Madsen STABO at baptism.  He was
baptized on 23 February 1845 in Kobu Parish, Oppland Fylke, Norway. Records indicate
that Mads Larsen & Oline, Syver?s parents, were on a subdivision of the STABO farm
called Hoel eie at the time of Syver?s birth in 1845.

Because migration was uncommon in the days of these ancestors, it is interesting to note
that Mads was actually baptized in Hof Parish, Ostre Toten.  While Syver was born in
Kobu Parish, Vestre Toten, his father at one time lived in Ostre Toten, as Syver himself
would later do.  Actually, these two parishes are adjacent, and you will see more
interaction between them and Hurdal Parish in Akershus Fylke as you read on in this story.
All three of these parishes are adjacent.
