| According to official parish record, Helfred Matson was born to Syver Madsen & Hellene Olsdtr. on 31 July 1879. Syver was the son of Mads Larsen & Oline Christoffersdatter; Hellene was the daughter of Ole Hansen & Ragnhild Juulsdatter. Helfred was baptized on 24 August 1879 and family record shows his birthday was celebrated on 31 August. This is of no consequence except to note that Helfred lived one month longer than we thought. We know of Helfred?s mother, Hellene, also by the names, Hellene Bjerkebakken and Hellene Hansen Bjerkebakken and combinations of those words. She is in the parish record for Helfred?s birth, Hellene Olsdtr. That acknowledges that she is a daughter of Ole somebody. Helfred Matson?s Ancestors On His Father?s Side Mads Larsen was Syver Madsen?s father. We have limited information about Mads and his family and ancestors. Mads, born 14 August 1803, is a son of Lars Olsen & Marte Zachariasdatter. He was born while they were on the HOLSTUEN farm and was baptized at Hof Parish in Ostre Toten. We also know that Marte?s father was Zacharias Christiansen and that Zacharias?s father was Christian and he, Christian, was born in 1694! We do not know Christian?s end or sur-name. |
