Johan Pedersen Frodahl & Hellene Christiansdatter?s Impact on the Strum Area:
Three children of Johan Pedersen Frodahl & Hellene Christiansdatter played a special role
in the Strum and Town of Unity area.  Carl, who did not marry, but who was a carpenter,
built a number of the buildings in Strum, including a hotel.  Carl lived and died in Strum.

Severine, a daughter, married into the same Moltzau family when she married Paul H.
Moltzau, son of Hans Moltzau an early settler in the area. Paul?s sister, Anna, married
Peder, son of Johan and Hellene.

The children of Hans & Marie and Johan & Hellene were first cousins. They all lived in the
same area.  Is there any question that these families were close?

Without genealogy research and without talking with community elders it would be easy
to conclude or even overlook the impact of the Frodahl family on Strum and the Town of
Unity.  To my knowledge, this surname no longer survives the area. But a close look
shows what you have just learned, that a number of Frodahl children came to the area and
married, but those who stayed were predominantly women.  By tradition or convention,
they would take the surname of their husbands. Without knowing their husband?s
surnames we cannot know and understand the true Frodahl impact that has Peder Hansen
Frodal & Siri Jensdatter Dyren as its head.
